Letter sent to US Congress Appropriations Committees calls for regenerative and just agriculture funding in the FY 2023 budget

The fiscal year 2023 federal budget process is underway in Congress. As the appropriations subcommittees held hearings in May to start drafting the bills that will fund federal agency and programs in the next year, ASBN’s Regenerative Agriculture and Justice Working Group collaborated on a letter of budget priorities for the subcommittee working on agriculture. The letter outlines funding requests for USDA programs that support farmers to adopt regenerative practices, that build local food systems, and that assist in equity and access for underserved and historically discriminated against farmers. ASBN and the working group will continue to advocate for this priority until the final budget bill is passed later this year.
