168 American Businesses Urge EPA to Move Forward on Carbon Cutting Rule

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has received strong support from over 150 businesses convened by the American Sustainable Business Network (ASBN) in favor of a proposed rule to cut carbon emissions from the energy sector. Signatories include ECOS, MegaFood, Avocado Green Brands, New Leaf Paper, and organizations like Natural Investments LLC and the US Hemp Building Association.

This summer has seen record-breaking climate disasters, including extreme heat waves in Texas leading to blackouts, widespread Canadian wildfires blanketing the U.S. in smoke, and the devastating wildfires in Maui, Hawaii. These events highlight the urgent need for a more reliable and resilient energy supply.

“The proposed EPA rule offers clear pathways to modernize power production in our country and would result in a substantial reduction of carbon pollution—an estimated 617 million metric tons by 2042,” said Michael Green, ASBN Director of Climate and Energy. “Our business members support this initiative because they understand the critical role businesses play in being responsible environmental stewards and setting an example for others.”

ASBN urges businesses across industries to support the EPA’s Carbon Cutting Rule, recognizing the importance of transitioning to cleaner energy sources to reduce carbon footprints and ensure a healthier, more sustainable future.
