Business Leaders Urge EPA to Protect the ENERGY STAR Program
In response to reports of potential cuts to the ENERGY STAR program, the American Sustainable Business Network (ASBN) is rallying business leaders nationwide to urge the EPA to preserve and strengthen this vital initiative.
“If the ENERGY STAR program is cut, it’s not just a policy loss—it’s a direct hit to American businesses and households,” said Mike Green, Senior Advisor on Climate and Energy at ASBN. “For every dollar the EPA invests, families and companies save nearly $350 on energy costs. Eliminating such a high-impact, cost-effective program would strip consumers of trusted information and rob businesses of critical savings and market advantage.”
Since its launch, ENERGY STAR has saved American families and businesses approximately 5 trillion kilowatt-hours of electricity and over $500 billion in energy costs-benefits that reach every corner of the U.S. economy. Recognized by over 90% of American households, the ENERGY STAR label provides trusted, transparent information that empowers consumers and businesses alike.
“American businesses, especially small and mid-sized enterprises, rely on ENERGY STAR as the public wants to buy more efficient, high-quality products,” said David Levine, Co-Founder and President of ASBN. “We call on the EPA to protect and expand this proven program.”
ASBN and its network of sustainable business leaders affirm their steadfast support for ENERGY STAR as an essential tool for climate action, economic growth, and consumer trust.
