State Legislators, Businesses & Advocates to Hold Press Conference Demanding PJM Interconnection Reform its Governance, Put Consumers First
PHILADELPHIA, PA – Amid skyrocketing energy bills and unprecedented demand for electricity outpacing available supply, many Americans are struggling to keep up. Meanwhile, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) is exploring changes to the governance and stakeholder processes of regional electric grid operator PJM Interconnection (PJM) to improve the company’s decision-making, which affects 67 million people across 13 states and the District of Columbia.
On Wednesday, September 2nd, at 3:30 p.m., join Pennsylvania and New Jersey legislators, business owners, consumer advocates, and clean energy experts for a press conference at the Alloy Hotel in King of Prussia. Elected officials, businesses and public interest advocates are calling on PJM to put consumers first in their decision-making processes and everyday operations, and for FERC to require PJM to make that happen with reforms to PJM’s organizational structure. Hear from a wide range of voices, including researchers from the new “Energy Affordability for Pennsylvania’s Small Businesses: Data Centers & Energy Choices in the AI Era” report, on how FERC should authorize changes to how PJM operates.
PJM can level the playing field for greater consumer protections and cheaper, cleaner energy sources and energy efficiency solutions. If PJM adopts more consumer-first policies, the people of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and other states in the region could receive critical relief from rising utility bills.
