On November 1st, 2022, in Geneva, the United Nations Research Institute for Social Development (UNRISD) announced the User Manual for Sustainable Development Performance Indicators†(SDPIs – https://cdn.unrisd.org/assets/library/reports/2022/manual-sdpi-2022.pdf), that, for the first time “provides a comprehensive set of indicators for assessing organizational performance in the context of sustainability thresholds and transformative change needed to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)â€. Since its launch, SDPI has attracted over 413 participating companies and this number is growing. The SDPI Online Platform is currently in beta version with an upcoming full launch and ongoing SDPI dissemination and platform demonstrations to interested stakeholders through the provision of SDPI training courses by partners.
The next day, November 2nd, Social Economy Europe (SEE) and the American Sustainable Business Network (ASBN) declared their support for UNRISDs breakthrough SDPI User Manual and announced the accompanying, ongoing SEE-ASBN-UNRISD “Own The Metrics†campaign launched in late November 2021 at the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) World Cooperative Congress in Seoul. Its purpose: to “build collective, cooperative and mutualist voice and agency for development and promotion of SDPI indicators from the global social economy perspectiveâ€. This campaign is about those doing, innovating and proving the work finally owning a proportionally equal seat at the global rulemaking and standards-setting tables. Together, SEE and ASBN represent well over three million social economy and “sixfold†bottomline (people, planet, purpose, profit, participation & prosperity) businesses and business organizations.
