The Circular Economy and Circularity: Unpacking Furniture and Beyond

ASBN hosted on Wednesday, June 2 at 1pm ET The Circular Economy and Circularity: Unpacking Furniture and Beyond, a panel discussion with L. Christina Cobb (UrbisEco) and Sustainability Consultant; Simonil Rustomji (mebl | Transforming Furniture), and Tone Søndergaard (Circular City Week New York and Danish Cleantech Hub).

The session explored how sectors can embrace circularity and the circular economy, through the lens of the furniture industry. We’ll identify circular solutions to the problems of waste, deforestation, and toxic pollution. We’ll also delve into circular approaches including: keeping products in use through sharing, renting, reselling and extended producer responsibility; keeping materials in use through reclaiming, recycling, and upcycling; and regenerating natural systems. We will highlight organizations and businesses leading the way, and the challenges to large-scale adoption of circularity in furniture and other industries.

This session was co-sponsored by mebl | Transforming Furniture and UrbisEco.
